A Mineola man was arrested for the murder and assault of a man who was found unconscious in a Hempstead park last month, Nassau County police said Thursday.

Marvin Yanez, 42, will be arraigned Thursday at the First District Court in Hempstead, in connection with the October death of Luis Rustrian Estrada, 31, of Hempstead, police said.

Hempstead Village police discovered the victim in Brierley Park on Oct. 18, after they received a call at 11:52 p.m.

Estrada was unconscious and “suffering from trauma injuries,” the police said in a statement.

He was taken to a hospital where he was later declared dead.

Last month, Nassau Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun, a department spokesman, said “there is no indication at this time that this is affiliated with any type of gang interaction.”
