Cops: Man, 19, arrested in backpack robbery in Valley Stream
A 19-year-old was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing a teen of his backpack earlier in the day on a street in Valley Stream, police said.
Nassau County police said that Kevin DaCosta, of Saddle Rock Road, Valley Stream, robbed the 17-year-old victim on West Merrick Road at 1:48 p.m.
Police said DaCosta was acting in concert with a suspect not yet apprehended — and said the victim and defendant knew each other.
Police said DaCosta was arrested by Fifth Squad detectives on Louise Place in Valley Stream. He was charged with second-degree robbery and is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
