Cops: Man sexually abused 12-year-old girl at mall

Police in Suffolk have arrested a Mattituck man and charged him with sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl at a Lake Grove shopping center, according to a police report.
Matthew McAvoy, 21, engaged in a criminal sex act Saturday night in a restroom corridor near the food court of Smith Haven Mall, police said.
Detectives charged McAvoy, of 4235 Deephole Dr., with two felony counts of first-degree criminal sex act and second-degree sexual abuse, according to the report. McAvoy will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
