He burglarized a Southampton jewelry store in November, police said. Now, Suffolk County police and Southampton Village police have released surveillance photos of the suspected jewel thief — asking anyone who recognizes him to call Crime Stoppers.
The burglary occurred at Rose Jewelers on Main Street at about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 28. Police said that during the burglary the suspect smashed a display case with a hammer and stole a diamond necklace valued at $20,000. He fled on a bicycle.
In the surveillance photos released Friday, the bicycle bandit is seen wearing a light-colored pullover-style coat, a knit cap, gloves and blue pants. His face is clearly visible.
Police ask anyone with information about the theft to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will remain confidential and callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest.
