A worker at a Patchogue bar was shot and wounded early Sunday morning while trying to break up a fight, Suffolk County police said.

Three suspects were in custody but the investigation into shooting was continuing, Suffolk County Police Assistant Commissioner Justin Meyers said in an emailed statement.

Meyers said the shooting occurred at about 4 a.m. outside the Cuscatlan Sports Bar on Main Street when the bar employee was shot as he tried to stop a fight.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center and released.

No further information on the shooting was available, a police spokeswoman said.
