Cops: South Hempstead teen arrested in botched cellphone sale

A South Hempstead teen has been charged with robbery after the botched sale of a cellphone, police said.

Serenity Nobles, 16, had arranged on social media to buy a cellphone from a 15-year-old boy, Nassau County police said.

The 15-year-old went to Nobles’ home on Long Beach Road Sunday evening and Noble said she wanted to show the phone to her mother, police said.

Nobles refused to return the phone “and threatened the victim while holding a kitchen knife,” police said in a news release.

The victim retreated and called 911, police said.

Officers arrested Nobles without incident, and she was awaiting arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead on a charge of robbery in the first degree, police said.
