A Valley Stream man was hit in the head with a pistol by one of two armed men who forced their way into a home, held family members at gunpoint and robbed the house, police said.

The 23-year-old man suffered a cut to his head during the home invasion Monday at 12:05 a.m., Nassau County police said. Police said he was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Police are searching for the two armed men who they said stole cell phones, a PlayStation 3 and a wallet before fleeing the home on Ash Street.

Police said one robber was 5-foot-6, the other about 5-foot-8, and the first had a silver-and-black handgun, the other a black handgun. Both were thin, police said. Both wore black hoodies, black ski masks and dark clothing.

Police said the victim who was struck in the head answered a knock on the side door of the house, was confronted by the two robbers who then entered the home, went to the man's bedroom, held two other family members at gunpoint and robbed the house.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the home invasion robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
