Nassau County police are searching for a man who punched a woman in the face and stole her jewelry Saturday evening as she unloaded shopping bags in the driveway of her East Hills home.

The 52-year-old woman was unloading her car on Peacock Drive at about 5:30 p.m. when a man grabbed her and demanded her jewelry, police said.

The woman struggled with her attacker, who began punching her in the face until she surrendered her rings, police said. The man, who also stole the victim’s pocketbook, ran to a dark car that sped south.

The woman suffered cuts and bruises to her head and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
