Coram man charged with DWI in Yaphank crash, Suffolk cops say

A Coram man was charged with drunken driving after his car veered into oncoming traffic in Yaphank and struck another vehicle Monday, Suffolk County police said.
Sam Cooper, 38, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Cooper was driving his 1997 Chevrolet Lumina at Mill and Sills roads when he crossed the double yellow line and hit the other vehicle about 9:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
There was no information on the driver of the other vehicle or details about the crash.
At his arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Suffolk, Cooper was ordered held on $2,000 cash bail, which court records indicated was posted.
