A Coram woman was charged with a misdemeanor after “severely” neglecting her dog, authorities said Wednesday.

Lateesha Boston, 32, of Judith Drive, failed to provide veterinary care for her 4-year-old Maltese mix, Fat Boy, who had suffered an “extremely painful neck injury,” Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross said.

According to Gross, the dog, “who appeared to have been attacked by another dog,” was found in early March, “urine soaked” and unable to move.

Fat Boy is “steadily improving,” according to Gross and is currently being treated at Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, SPCA officials said. He will be available for adoption when he is fully recovered, Gross said.

Boston is scheduled to be arraigned on June 7 in First District Court in Central Islip.
