A Hempstead man was ordered held without bail Friday after his arrest on murder and robbery charges in connection with a 2014 shooting death in a Roosevelt alley.

District Court Judge Darlene Harris granted a request by Nassau County prosecutors and remanded Corey F. Walker, 19, at his arraignment in Hempstead.

Nassau police arrested Walker, of 39 Hapsburg Place, Thursday on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in a Dec. 20, 2014, robbery that left 21-year-old Sayvon Marcus Burt of Freeport dead.

Walker’s Legal Aid attorney, Alexandra Gann, entered a not-guilty plea.

Anna Acquafredda, a Nassau prosecutor, said Walker is one of three defendants to be arrested in Burt’s death.

According to court records, Walker and others tried to rob Burt with a handgun. Burt was shot and killed by a co-defendant during the attempted robbery, the records state. The co-defendant was not named.

Another man, Elliott Fortune, 19, of Roosevelt, was charged in May in the crime, which Nassau police said took place in an alley near Park and Lakewood avenues.

Fortune is the son of a former Roosevelt High School standout and NFL player also named Elliott Fortune.

A spokesman for the district attorney’s office said the third suspect was Joel Villalobos, 19, of Freeport, who was arrested in Georgia in April and arraigned here in June.

Walker also was arraigned on a fourth-degree grand larceny charge after he tried to rob a taxi driver in a separate incident, Acquafredda said at Walker’s arraignment.

Walker is accused of stealing $110 from the driver in Roosevelt on Sept. 13, 2014, court records show.

Gann said Walker, who is not employed but periodically works with his father, a carpenter, doesn’t have any criminal convictions. She added that prosecutors haven’t indicated why they believe Walker is a suspect.

It’s unclear what led police to arrest Walker, who is due back in court on Wednesday.

The victim’s mother, Brianna Martin of Freeport, who attended the arraignment, said she was happy there was another arrest.

“Let justice just take its course,” she said outside court.
