An alleged hit-and-run driver faces a hit-and-run charge after striking and seriously hurting a pedestrian in Patchogue and fleeing Wednesday, according to Suffolk police.

The driver, Bryam Moscoso Gomez, 25, of Middle Island, was arrested less than 90 minutes after a patrol officer spotted a 2009 Honda Accord suspected of being involved in the crash, according to a department news release issued Thursday.

The pedestrian, Meaghan Murray, 42, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was seriously injured; she was flown by police helicopter to Stony Brook hospital. An update on her condition wasn't available.

The crash happened as Moscoso Gomez drove south on Route 112, north of Barton Avenue, when he struck the woman as she crossed the roadway to west from east at about 8:35 p.m., the release said.

He was then spotted at 9:54 p.m. by the officer on the westbound Sunrise Highway service road at Chestnut Avenue and arrested.

Moscoso Gomez was in police custody, awaiting arraignment Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in serious physical injury.

It’s not clear whether Moscoso Gomez was represented by a lawyer.
