A 21-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Friday night and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a crossbow at a woman, grazing and cutting her face, Nassau County police said.

Officers responded to an aided case call at a home on West Avenue in Lawrence around 9:23 p.m. and found a 28-year-old woman bleeding from the right side of her face, according to a news release.

Detectives determined that Samy Sedhom, 21, had fired an arrow from a crossbow toward the woman, which grazed and cut her face. Sedhom was arrested at the scene without incident, police said.

Sedhom was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree stalking, police said.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Sedhom is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
