A Hempstead man has been charged with sending friend requests to young girls on social media, and then sending them sexually explicit photos, Nassau County police said.
Police said Daniel Arturo Monrroy Pineda, 27 of Tyler Avenue, Hempstead, called himself “Papi” online and sent friend requests to a number of girls between the ages of 11 and 14 on ooVoo, a social media app.
When the requests were accepted, police said Pineda would then begin to send the girls the sexually explicit pictures. An investigation led police to Pineda, who was arrested at his home on Tuesday at about 7:20 a.m.
Detectives are asking anyone who thinks she may have been a victim to call the Crimes Against Property squad at 516-573-5275.
Pineda is charged with 10 counts of second degree disseminating indecent material to a minor.
Pineda could not be reached for comment. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
