Dina Lohan pleads not guilty to drunken-driving indictment

Actress Lindsay Lohan’s mother pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony drunken-driving charge in a virtual Nassau County Court arraignment that followed her arrest in North Merrick more than a year ago.

A grand jury also indicted Dina Lohan, 58, on a misdemeanor charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and leaving an accident scene — an infraction — stemming from her January 2020 arrest. She's facing up to 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison if convicted of the felony.

Prosecutors in an earlier court appearance recommended a deal under which Lohan would have served 6 months in jail and 5 years of probation, a Nassau district attorney's office spokesman said Tuesday.

Authorities have alleged that Lohan was drunk when she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a Honda CR-V outside a steakhouse before leaving the scene. The other driver called 911 and followed Lohan before a police officer approached her Mercedes and noted that her breath smelled of alcohol, her speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot, a felony complaint states.

Lohan got out of her car and "fell to the ground on her face" before accusing the officer of pushing her, according to the allegations. The complaint also states that Lohan admitted she’d had a glass of wine but refused sobriety tests.

A judge said Lohan could remain free on her own recognizance and her driver's license would stay suspended. Her attorney did not respond to requests for comment.

In 2014, Lohan was convicted of aggravated drunken-driving in Nassau and ordered to do community service, among other sanctions.
