Arnold Stecker, of Hauppauge, accused of inappropriately touching driving student
A 72-year-old driving instructor is facing criminal charges after a 20-year-old student said he touched her inappropriately during a lesson earlier this month.
Suffolk County police arrested Arnold Stecker on Saturday and charged him with forcible touching, a misdemeanor, authorities said in a news release.
Police said Stecker touched the female student while stopped on Kenilworth Drive in East Northport on Tuesday. The incident took place around 8:30 p.m., according to police.
Stecker, of Hauppauge, is an instructor at Fitzgerald Driving School in North Babylon.
Officials at the driving school did not respond to requests for comment Saturday. Stecker could not be immediately reached and it was not known whether he was represented by an attorney.
Stecker was to be held overnight and arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information, or anyone else who believes they may have been a victim, to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
