Men from Long Island, Queens face drug charges upstate
Two men — one from Uniondale, the other from St. Albans, Queens — are facing drug charges upstate after State Police said a trooper who stopped to assist them with their disabled vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway on Saturday found them in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
State Police said Fabian B. Barrett, 34, of Uniondale, and Romique A. Meyers, 35, of St. Albans, were each charged with second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both men were arraigned in Town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
Both are due in court on Friday.
State Police said the trooper spotted the disabled vehicle on the Taconic near Carpenter Road in Hopewell Junction and said five ounces of cocaine and “a small quantity” of marijuana were recovered.
It was not immediately clear what led to the discovery of the drugs or their seizure.
