A Huntington man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after police said he crashed his car into a median on the Long Island Expressway in Brentwood on Tuesday evening.

Suffolk County police said the driver, Kenneth Honohan, 53, was seriously hurt in the single-vehicle crash on the westbound LIE near Exit 53 at 6:09 p.m.

Police said Honohan was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of his serious injuries. His condition was not immediately known Wednesday.

Police said Honohan lost control of his 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit and crashed into the center median, causing the car to overturn. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Arraignment details were not immediately available. The car was impounded.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
