A male driver and his female passenger were arrested Thursday in East Massapequa and charged with heroin possession, Nassau County police said.
The driver also was charged with selling drugs.
Police said the driver, Shamiek T. Porter, 24, of Franklin Place, Farmingdale, and Lindsey Wild, 24, of North Greene Avenue, Lindenhurst, each were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after their arrests on Beach Street, near Carman Boulevard, at 11:20 a.m. by detectives from the Nassau/Suffolk Heroin Task Force. Porter also was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Police said that when detectives attempted to stop the 2013 BMW driven by Porter, he instead “drove over a sidewalk and across a front lawn before striking a brick wall, mail box, basketball hoop and two parked cars” before coming to a stop.
During the subsequent investigation, police said, Wild was found in possession of over 50 glassine envelopes of heroin, while Porter was found in possession of 20.
Both Porter and Wild were scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
