Suffolk County police arrested and charged a Bellport man for allegedly leaving the scene of an East Patchogue crash with a box truck that injured six, including the other driver, his 8-year-old daughter and a third passenger.

Dayquan Rivera, 24, was driving a 2022 Dodge Charger south on Americus Avenue about 7:10 p.m. Monday when he struck a 1998 GMC box truck at the intersection with Brookhaven Avenue, police said.

The impact of the crash caused the box truck, which was heading east on Brookhaven Avenue, to overturn, ejecting its driver and two passengers, according to police. The driver — a 33-year-old North Bellport man — was airlifted via police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His 8-year-old daughter was airlifted to the same hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The other passenger — a 40-year-old North Bellport man — was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Rivera and one of his passengers, 22, and also from Bellport, fled the scene while the other passenger, 23, of Patchogue, remained and was transported to the Patchogue hospital for treatment of non-life-threating injuries, according to police.

Police said they located Rivera and the passenger who fled with him at that same hospital, where they were being treated for minor injuries.

Rivera was charged with leaving the scene of an incident with personal injury, police said. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. Information on whether he had an attorney was not immediately available Tuesday.
