A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run Tuesday afternoon in Farmingdale, Suffolk police said.

Hector Rodriguez, 44, of Mastic, was walking south on the sidewalk of northbound Route 110, just south of Route 109, when a 2017 Toyota Tacoma headed north "veered off the road and struck him at approximately 3:15 p.m.," police said.

The Tacoma then fled north, police said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, police said.

Police said the driver of the Tacoma, Hugo Cuadra, was located at his North Amityville home about half an hour after the collision.

Cuadra was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He is set to be arraigned Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear if he was represented by counsel.
