Cops: Man charged with murder in Old Bethpage park shooting

A Staten Island man was arrested Monday and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting Saturday of a man in an Old Bethpage park, Nassau police said.
Brandon P. Torres, 22, of John Street, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the death of Stefon Pierre, 22, of Queens.
Pierre was shot once in the stomach while he was in Haypath Road Park and was declared dead at a hospital, police said. Previously, police gave an incorrect location for Pierre's home address.
Police said they received a 911 call for help at 11:24 p.m. Other details were not released early Tuesday.
