A fist fight broke out in Farmingdale Friday after a man swung his parked vehicle’s door into Main Street traffic, angering a passing driver who swerved to avoid a collision, Nassau police said.

The driver got out of his vehicle and an argument between himself and the other man turned into a punch fest until officers arrived shortly after 1:20 p.m., police said.

Each man insisted the other be arrested, police said, and officers obliged.

Dion Lonigro, 52, of Conklin Street in Farmingdale, and Irvine McConney, 63, of Erlanger Boulevard in North Babylon, were each charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

McConney was also charged with third-degree criminal mischief for allegedly kicking the other man’s vehicle.

Police said the two men were taken to a hospital for treatment for facial bruising and minor injuries.

Other details, including which man was driving and which was parked, were not immediately available Friday night.
