Suffolk police have increased their presence at Tanger Outlets in Deer Park following a weekend fight that led to the arrest of two teens, a department spokesperson said.

A fight involving a large group of people broke out at Tanger Outlets in Deer Park around 7:40 p.m. Saturday, according to Suffolk police. Officers charged a 16-year-old male with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly having a knife during the altercation.

After the teen was handcuffed and on the ground, another teen kicked him in the face, a Suffolk police spokesperson said in an email. That 18-year-old grappled with officers as they attempted to place him under arrest, police said.

Suffolk police charged the 18-year-old with second-degree assault of a police officer and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, according to the spokesperson. One police officer sustained a wrist injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Following the fight, Suffolk police increased their presence at the shopping center, the department spokesperson said.

The company issued a statement Wednesday saying: "Tanger Deer Park does not tolerate this behavior from visitors ..." and that it was working with Suffolk police on their investigation of the incident.

The statement added that Tanger had confirmed with police that the fight was an "isolated incident."
