About 20 residents were evacuated from a New Cassel apartment complex early Saturday after a man harassed a woman and then set her building on fire, Nassau County police said.

Dimitrov Henry, 30 of Uniondale, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson and second-degree aggravated harassment in connection with the fire, police said.

Henry appeared Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. His case was adjourned until Wednesday and he remained jailed on bail of $500,000 bond or $250,000 cash, according to court records.

Officers evacuated about 20 people from three apartment units after responding to the Prospect Avenue complex at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police said in a news release. Although police said the woman who was harassed lived in the building, it was not clear whether her apartment had been damaged.

Henry was initially arrested in connection with the harassment of the woman, 21, but police later determined he started the blaze, officers said.
