Floral Park man’s thefts targeted Walgreens, CVS, cops say

A Floral Park man previously arrested in Queens and Nassau was arrested by Nassau County police Bureau of Special Operations officers Tuesday — while he was being held on an unrelated incident at Queens Central Booking in Kew Gardens.
Jeffrey W. Waiksnis, 39, of 264th Street, was charged in thefts from two Walgreens and three CVS pharmacies dating to Oct. 1, Nassau police said.
The nature of the NYPD arrest leading to the appearance at Central Booking was not immediately clear. Court records show Waiksnis is currently facing a petty larceny charge in Nassau stemming from a Dec. 31 arrest in which he also was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
That charge was later dismissed, records indicate.
Police said that an investigation determined Waiksnis had stolen items from a Walgreens in Westbury on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3, from a CVS in Westbury on Jan. 20 and from a CVS in Franklin Square on Feb. 5 and Feb. 26.
In the Oct. 1 theft Waiksnis stole about 200 cases of beer from a Walgreens on Old Country Road in Westbury, police said. Two days later, police said, Waiksnis stole about eight 12-packs of beer from the same store. Then, on Jan. 20, police said, Waiksnis stole about $4,500 worth of cosmetics from a CVS on Old Country Road in Westbury. On Feb. 5, police said, he stoles 226 bottles of nail polish from a CVS on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square. Then, on Feb. 26, Waiksnis stole $420 worth of socks and nail polish from the same store, police said. Police did not say what evidence led to Waiksnis.
Waiksnis was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and petty larceny. He faces arraignment Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
