An 86-year-old Freeport father got a telephone call this week telling him that his son had been arrested and he should send the bail money in cash to a local address, police said.
He complied, but a family member heard about the request and called Freeport Village police Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Nassau County Police Department.
Freeport detectives went to the local address, 384 Atlantic Ave., and saw Justin Estoff, 21, accept a package with the bail money from a UPS delivery about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. The amount of money was not revealed.
Estoff had two fraudulent driver’s licenses when he was arrested, police said.
He was awaiting arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead on grand larceny and other charges, police said.
