Two students stabbed near Freeport High School, police say

Two students were stabbed Friday afternoon near Freeport High School, according to police.

The injuries of the victims — males ages 15 and 18 — are not life-threatening, according to a law enforcement source, who said the stabbing happened about 2:30 p.m.

Jessica Novins, an outside spokeswoman for the district, referred inquiries to the police, but said: “they are two Freeport High School students.”

More details about the altercation — what started the fight and what kind of object was used in the stabbing — were not immediately provided.

Freeport police Officer Joseph Eschmann said that detectives from both the village and Nassau County police forces were investigating. 

“It doesn’t look like there will be any arrests,” he said. 

By 4 p.m., the village police force had taped off the front yard of a home on Lexington Avenue near the corner of Park Avenue, down the street from the school, but had otherwise cleared the scene.
