Bail was set at $50,000 cash or bond Saturday for a Freeport man charged in the robbery of a Roosevelt woman.

There were no injuries.

Nassau County police said the robbery happened Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when Taffarie Haughton, 18, of East Seaman Street, went to the home of the victim’s friend and asked to speak with her.

When the victim went to the door, Haughton, who police said is an acquaintance of hers, held a “black handgun with a red laser to her head” and demanded her belongings. When she refused, Haughton grabbed her phone from her hand and broke it on the ground.

Haughton then fled on his bike, and when he returned to his home on Friday was placed under arrest, police said.

Haughton is charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal mischief. During his arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead he was ordered to return to court on Oct. 17.
