Two masked men stole a 20-year-old man’s headphones and broke his leg during a knifepoint robbery in Freeport early Sunday morning, according to Nassau police.

The Freeport man was walking on Rutland Road about 2:25 a.m. when two suspects began running toward him, according to a Nassau County Police Department news release.

The victim, who was not identified, told police he began to run away but was tackled by a suspect wearing a black face mask and hoodie, who then pulled out a silver-handled knife and demanded money.

The victim said he didn’t have any money, according to police. The second suspect, wearing a white face mask, took the man’s headphones. Both suspects ran south on Rutland Road, police said.

Police did not say how the victim suffered broken bones in his right leg.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
