Police said she “intercepted” a check from an insurance broker worth almost $35,000, opened a checking account, deposited the stolen check — and made withdrawals on it.

Now, Imani T. Tolley, 24, of Lena Avenue, Freeport, is under arrest, charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Tolley was arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead. The case was adjourned and records indicate she was given a conditional release to probation. She is due back in court on Dec. 20, according to online records.

Nassau County police said that in October Tolley intercepted the check, issued by Cooper & McCloskey Inc. of San Francisco, opened an account with the First National Bank in Glen Head — and then made withdrawals against the $34,727.60 check.

It was not immediately clear how much was withdrawn.

Major Case Bureau detectives investigated the incident and police said Tolley surrendered Monday in Westbury.
