Funeral services have been set for a Long Island woman who was allegedly killed during the Labor Day weekend by her fiance after the couple and their sons moved upstate from their Sandy-damaged home in Flanders.

Amy Bradstreet, 44, was found dead on Labor Day inside her Cazenovia home, state police said.

Stephen Schumejda, 31, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, state police said. He was being held in Madison County jail Friday night.

Bradstreet died of multiple stab wounds, according to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office.

Inside their home, Schumejda stabbed her several times in the face, neck and body, according to the felony complaint filed against him. It happened some time between 11 p.m. Aug. 31 and 7 a.m. Monday, the complaint said.

The mother of two, who held a variety of engineering positions since college, lived in Washington, D.C., and New York City before moving to Long Island in 2007, according to an obituary posted on the website of the Tait Funeral Home in Cazenovia.

In Flanders, she started a life with Schumejda, who was from Riverhead, and they had two sons, the obituary said.

Bradstreet, a marathon runner and traveler, had dedicated the last four years to her family, the obituary said.

"We will miss her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, positive attitude, and tears of joy seen so many times over her short lifetime," her obituary read. "Amy's familiar smiles and compassion spread joy throughout her world and continue to shine down on us from above."

Visitation hours at Tait Funeral Home are 4-7 p.m. Friday, followed by a funeral Mass 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at St. Ann's Church in Manlius.
