A suspect is in custody after hitting an officer during a traffic stop conducted Wednesday in Wyandanch, according to Suffolk County police.

The two gang unit officers pulled the suspect over on Deer Street at about 11:50 a.m. An officer got out of the driver’s side of the police vehicle and was then struck by the suspect’s vehicle, which pinned the officer’s leg between the door and the vehicle, police said.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
