Surveillance video from a Stewart Manor gas station robbery Saturday night shows victims turning the tables on one of the suspects, as employees detained him for Nassau County police.
Two men and a woman, all from Suffolk, were arrested and charged with robbing the Express station at 600 Tulip Ave. at about 6 p.m., police said.
One of the men was held for police by station manager Nick Singh and a station attendant as the other two drove off, Singh told News 12 Long Island in an interview.
The video obtained by News 12 shows Singh and the attendant holding suspect Jason Kroll, 32, of Shirley, outside the store after the other two suspects had apparently driven off.
Singh and the attendant also are shown dragging a shirtless Kroll from the lot back into the store after he tried to get away.
According to detectives, the three suspects pulled into the gas station and asked Singh for help with their Jeep Cherokee.
As Kroll stayed with the vehicle, along with another suspect, Heather McCormack, 27, of Mastic, Christopher Giardiello, 26, of Mattituck, went inside with a knife.
Video from inside the station store shows Giardiello sneaking behind the counter to steal money from a cash register, according to police.
Police said that while Kroll spoke with Singh near the vehicle McCormack was in the driver’s seat.
Singh went back into the store where he confronted Giardiello, who police said was armed with a knife and had cash from the register.
A struggle ensued during which Kroll grabbed Singh from behind, trying to strangle him, and allowing Giardiello to flee the scene with the money, police said. Another employee of the station, a man, came to assist Singh and they were able to detain Kroll until police arrived.
Fifth Precinct officers located McCormack and Giardiello at Meacham Avenue and News Avenue in Elmont where they conducted a vehicle stop and placed them under arrest.
Police said they suspect the three also were involved in a March 26 larceny at OK Gas Station at 66 New Hyde Park Rd. in Franklin Square.
McCormack was arraigned Sunday on charges of robbery and grand larceny; she was held on $25,000 bail, cash or bond.
Kroll and Giardiello also are charged with robbery and grand larceny. Giardiello is additionally charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, and Kroll is charged with obstruction of breathing for trying to choke one of the attendants, police said.
Their arraignment information was not immediately available.
