How the Gilgo serial killer case unfolded

The case of the so-called "Long Island Serial Killer" haunted the region for nearly two decades until Rex A. Heuermann, 62, of Massapequa Park, was arrested in July 2023 and pleaded guilty on April 8 to seven of the murders while also admitting to an eighth killing.
