Police: Holtsville man accused of DWI after striking 12-year-old girl on her bicycle

Suffolk police charged a Holtsville man with being intoxicated when his car struck and injured a 12-year-old girl in Bayport on Monday.
The girl was riding a bicycle when a 2018 Honda driven by William Schultz, 67, struck her on Montauk Highway and First Avenue about 6 p.m., Suffolk police said.
A Nassau County police officer detained Schultz until officers from Suffolk’s Fifth Precinct arrived at the scene, police said.
The cyclist was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Schultz is scheduled to be arraigned on DWI charges at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
