Nassau County police are investigating after a 7-year-old girl was shot in Hempstead on Saturday afternoon.

Village of Hempstead police responded shortly before 3 p.m. to an Evans Avenue residence where they discovered that a girl had been shot in her left arm. She was transported to a hospital for treatment, Nassau police said. 

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS or call 911.
