Good Samaritan University Hospital nurse's aide Trever Lauriano of Wyandanch charged with abusing 15-year-old girl

Suffolk police arrested a Good Samaritan University Hospital employee Friday at the facility for allegedly abusing a teenage patient.

Nurse's aide Trever Lauriano, 36, of Wyandanch, allegedly "sexually abused a 15-year-old girl while she was a patient," the Suffolk County Police Department said in a news release. The incident, which Special Victims Section detectives said occurred Aug. 3 in the facility's behavioral health unit, was reported by a fellow hospital employee, who called 911.

Lauriano was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. He pleaded not guilty Friday before acting County Court Judge Evan Zuckerman in First District Court in Central Islip, according to court records. 

Zuckerman issued a temporary order of protection and ordered Lauriano held on $5,000 cash bail, $10,000 insured bond or $50,000 partially secured surety bond. Records indicate he posted bail. The defense attorney who represented him at his arraignment could not be reached late Friday.

Lauriano has been fired from the hospital, according to a statement Good Samaritan issued through a spokesperson.

“Upon learning of this incident, the individual was immediately placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted, resulting in termination of employment," the hospital said. "We take these matters very seriously. The safety of our patients remains our top priority.”
