A Brooklyn woman was charged with grand larceny after she allegedly store more than $50,000 from at least 27 retail stores in an eight-month period, Nassau police said.
Detectives said that since August, Magdalena Samsin, 41, entered stores, selected items, passed the points of purchase and left without paying.
The value of the items she took from more than 27 retail stores totaled more than $50,000, police said.
Police said some of the stores Samsin is accused of stealing from included:
- Marshalls on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, allegedly hit more than a dozen times.
- Sephora on Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park
- Nordstrom Rack on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset
- T.J. Maxx on Long Beach Road in Oceanside
- Ulta on Long Beach Road in Oceanside
- Sephora on Merrick Road in Merrick
- Victoria’s Secret on Long Beach Road in Oceanside
- Ulta on Old Country Road in Garden City
A breakdown of the other stores was not available.
Detectives arrested Samsin on Friday without incident after an investigation.
She was charged with second-degree larceny and arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead. At her arraignment, bail was set at $250,000 partially secured bond, $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash, according to online court documents.
Her attorney, Nicholas Angelo Carra, told Newsday on Monday: “We’re not going to make any comments at this time.”
Records show Samsin was supposed to appear in court on Monday related to a fugitive warrant out of New Jersey, but that the case was postponed. She is due back in court on Thursday.
