Police are searching for the driver of a black Honda Civic who they said pointed a black handgun at another driver during a road rage incident Monday afternoon on the Long Island Expressway.

The incident occurred on the eastbound LIE in Roslyn Heights at about 3 p.m., Nassau County police said.

Police said the other driver, identified only as a 25-year-old man, was involved in an incident and that the driver of the black, four-door Civic, then pulled in front of him — and hit his brakes.

Police said that when the victim attempted to pull into the HOV lane to pass the Civic, the driver put down his window and pointed the handgun at him. The victim then fled.

The Honda is described as a 2008-2009 model with tinted windows, yellow New York plates and a Jets sticker in the rear window. The driver is believed to have red hair and be in his 20s.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.

All calls will remain confidential.
