Shots fired at a Riverhead apartment complex Wednesday evening have police searching for suspects — and asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

Riverhead Town police said the incident at the River Pointe apartment complex on East Main Street was reported in “numerous” 911 calls at 7:27 p.m.

Responding officers found two vehicles parked in front of one building had been damaged by an apparent “exchange of gunfire,” police said. Detectives recovered spent shell casings and bullet fragments, police said.

Police said no one was injured, but said two buildings — the F building and G building at the complex — were also damaged.
