A man who menaced a Hampton Bays neighborhood Tuesday, aiming a shotgun at cars and houses and animals — and, ultimately, police officers — was arrested after a brief struggle with police, who used a stun gun to subdue him, officials said.

Jonathan Mulvey-Faca, 21, of Pinewood Lane, Hampton Bays, was charged with menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, as well as environmental conservation violations, Southampton Town police said.

Arraignment information was not available.

Police said the incident was reported in a 911 call at about 10:30 a.m., the caller saying there had been gunshots — and that a man, carrying a shotgun, was on Pinewood Lane “pulling over cars and aiming the shotgun at houses and animals” in the neighborhood.

Police said that, on arrival, officers found Mulvey-Fava at a nearby beach on Corwin Lane. But, police said, Mulvey-Fava “failed to comply” with directives to drop the gun — and instead turned the gun on officers.

Police wrestled with the suspect, finally using the stun gun to subdue him.

Later, empty shotgun casings were found outside his home on Pinewood Lane and a second man, intoxicated but unarmed, was found inside the home, police said. Guns were recovered.

Police said the investigation is continuing and detectives ask anyone with information to call them at 631-702-2230. All calls will remain confidential.
