Hempstead clothing store, homes burglarized, police say

Nassau police arrested a man Sunday on multiple burglary charges after he attempted to steal merchandise from a Hempstead clothing store, they said.

Third Squad detectives said Hempstead police officers responded to an alarm at Chief Men’s & Ladies Wear, at 133 Fulton Ave. After officers arrived, they found Isaac Rodriguez-Quinones, 35, hiding in a clothing display and placed him under arrest.

A further investigation by Nassau detectives found that Rodriguez-Quinones burglarized two homes in July, police said. On July 6, Rodriguez-Quinones stole assorted jewelry and cash from a Roslyn Harbor home on Bryant Avenue, police said in a news release. On July 16 he stole two laptop computers and a cellphone from a home on Meadow Street in Garden City, police said.

Rodriguez-Quinones, who police said has no known address, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
