Two people were arrested after detectives searched a Hempstead apartment and found a cache of weapons and drugs, Nassau County police said on Saturday.

Detectives with the department’s Narcotics/Vice Squad served a search warrant about 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Main Street apartment following reports of illegal drug activity, police said.

The search yielded 89 grams of cocaine, about 15 grams of heroin and 42 amphetamine tablets. Police also found ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine, Xanax and Oxycodone and several weapons, including a defaced .40-caliber Desert Eagle semi-automatic pistol and a .9-mm Taurus P111 semi-automatic pistol, authorities said.

Police arrested Oswaldo A. Almonte, 40, and Yadira Geronimo De La Rosa, 27, who both live at the Main Street apartment. They each were charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Almonte, who was arrested at a Bedell Street address, also was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Geronimo De La Rosa additionally was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.

The two were arraigned Saturday morning in Hempstead. Almonte’s bail was set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond, while Geronimo De La Rosa’s bail was set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond, according to online court records.

They are due back in court on Wednesday.
