A Hempstead man already facing robbery charges from his arrest this summer now faces additional counts, Nassau police said.

Phillip Robinson, 52, was arraigned Sept. 6 at First District Court in Hempstead after being charged with robbing two U Hauls, and police said one instance took place at a U Haul on West Fulton Avenue in Hempstead and the other on Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood, on March 4.

He also was charged with criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon, the police said.

On Aug. 6, Robinson was arrested after police said he walked into a Dunkin’ Donuts in Hempstead armed with a black handgun and demanded money. The defendant drove off in a gold vehicle after the 20-year-old male victim gave him cash.

The police responded to the crime and broadcast details, including a description of the getaway car, and officers arrested Robinson without incident after spotting him driving south on South Franklin Ave. in Hempstead, police said.

He was charged with robbery, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

Robinson is now charged with two more counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of criminal use of a firearm and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
