Brooklyn man sexually assaulted teen in Hempstead, NCPD says

A Brooklyn man was arrested Saturday in the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Hempstead earlier this month, Nassau County police said.
Manuel Lopez Gil, 30, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree sexual abuse, both felonies, police announced in a news release. He was detained in Brooklyn by the department's special victims detectives with assistance from the New York City Police Department.

The alleged assault occurred just before noon on June 13, police said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, according to the release.
A police spokesman did not have additional information on where the alleged assault took place or the relationship between the suspect and victim.
Earlier this week, Nassau police issued a Crime Stoppers alert seeking information on Lopez Gil in connection for the alleged assault. In the alert, police had said he drives a tractor-trailer with Texas registration.
It was unclear Saturday evening if Lopez Gil was represented by an attorney.
