Hempstead shooting victim taken to hospital, village cops say

A male victim was shot Wednesday night on the streets of Hempstead, village police said.

Four shots were fired near Elm and Laurel avenues just before 10 p.m. and the victim was struck in the hip, police said. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, police said.

His condition and other details on what happened were not immediately available as officers on the scene gathered information.
