Freeport man identified as fatal stabbing victim, police say

Nassau County police on Monday identified the victim of a fatal stabbing outside a Hempstead bar as a Freeport man.

Three unidentified men stabbed Rolando Cruz, 39, following a verbal altercation, in front of El Nuevo bar on Fulton Avenue about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Cruz was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead by a staff physician about 1:35 a.m., police said.

There is no description of the suspects, police said.

Detectives said anyone with information could call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
