Two people were arrested for allegedly breaking into Hicksville High School on Sunday morning via a window and then damaging several classrooms, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The alleged break-in happened at about 4:40 a.m.; the school's security force alerted the police, a department news release said.

The release said officers found Khan Malik, 34, of Medford, and Nimra Khawaja, 28, of Hicksville on the school's third floor. Both were in police custody Sunday night awaiting court arraignment, set for Monday, so neither could not be reached for comment. The criminal charges include burglary and criminal mischief, the release said.

No other details, including the extent of the damage, the motive, and the relationship of the two have to the school, if any, were disclosed.
