Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in a hit-and-run accident on a snowy January day in Central Islip that left teenage twins injured, one seriously.
The 15-year-old brother and sister were walking to their bus stop at 8:55 a.m. Jan. 30 when they were struck on Hemlock Street, Suffolk County police said Friday.
“The female suffered serious injuries and her brother received minor injuries,” police said in a statement.
Police described the vehicle that fled as “a dark red or burgundy truck with white letters and a roof rack that extends from the front to the rear of vehicle.”
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering the reward. Anyone with information can confidentially call them at 800-220-TIPS; text police at SCPD using the word “CRIMES” (274637); or email tipsubmit.com.
